For this course I set six development goals across three undergraduate competencies. The short version:
Communication
- Cut filler words in spoken presentations by half, measured across at least four recorded practice talks, by December 2026.
- Produce handover documentation for every script I wrote during my co-op, and validate it by having a teammate run and maintain the scripts without my help, by August 2026.
Collaboration and leadership
- Practise de-escalating disagreements by restating the other person’s position before arguing my own, tracked across at least six situations, by April 2027.
- Build enough working knowledge of my team’s security platforms to take on at least three tasks that support a coworker’s work rather than my own, by August 2026.
Initiative
- Design, build, and publish at least one personal project using a technology I haven’t worked with before, shipping a working v1 with a README, by March 2027.
- Identify and automate at least one recurring day-to-day task using platform APIs, cutting the manual time it takes by at least half, by July 2026.
The documentation goal and the automation goal are both met. The rest are in progress.
